G. Zamir Garcia, AIA LEED AP, is a thoughtful, conscientious team leader with a keen eye for high design and artistically inspired design solutions. Trained as an architect and an artist, Zamir approaches each project with an intellectual and creative curiosity, rigorous exploration, and a “lets figure out how to make this work” determination. Growing up amongst the expansive rugged landscapes of West Texas left a big impression on the way he approaches his work, from the tiniest of scales to the overall impression, everything works in harmony to create what you see and experience around you. At a very young age, Zamir decided to pursue a career in architecture and received a degree in Environmental Design from Texas A&M University, where he focused not only on the technical study of architecture, but the influence of art on the built environment. Upon graduation, he received a one year fellowship to continue his art studies in Tuscany Italy, where he was inspired by the extensive use of decorative art in Renaissance and Romanesque buildings.
Joining M Architects + Morrissey Design in 2019, Zamir brings over 20 years of professional experience in a variety of project typologies, including high-end residential, mixed use, workplace environments, cultural institutions, and academic/research facilities.
Zamir holds a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University, where he studied under the renowned Spanish architect, Jose Rafael Moneo. Prior to joining M Architects + Morrissey Design, Zamir was an Associate at Erdy McHenry Architecture in Philadelphia and has worked at Perkins+Will in Atlanta, Allan Wanzenberg in New York City, and Leers Weinzapfel Associates in Boston. His most inspiring and influential experience was his involvement in the design of the highly acclaimed MIT Media Lab addition designed by the Japanese modernist architect, Fumihiko Maki.
A Texan at heart, Zamir loves to BBQ at his home in Germantown and traveling with his wife and son exploring and finding inspiration from far off places like Iceland, Hong Kong, Europe, Mexico, and North Africa.
G Zamir Garcia is a registered Architect in PA, NJ, DE, MD, & FL.
