With this renovation project, we turned an old row house into a subtly modern 3-bedroom family home. In order to revamp the building’s original style while preserving its character, we kept the original brick facade, but reimagined it with new window detailings and a unique staining process. With contrasting white and metallic details, the resulting deep-blue facade makes this house stand out while retaining the texture and charm of the original brick.
In addition to repairs and a complete interior renovation, our design includes the addition of a third floor, which we set backward to make room for an intimate roof deck off the master bedroom. Here, an arched window and glass doors connect the two spaces and honor the classic lines of the original building. In the bedroom, barrel-vaulted contribute a rustic feel, while warm metallic light fixtures both inside and out add a warm, modern twist. In addition to the roof deck, which offers outstanding views of the city, another garden deck in the back provides additional private outdoor space. The recurring theme of this home is a combination of the new and classic for an exciting renovation that honors the quintessential charm of its historic location.
