To celebrate the rich history of the two neighborhoods it straddles, we designed this development by reimagining the vernacular materials and forms of the area’s victorian, streetcar-era suburbs.
The development takes its form directly from these surroundings, as its curved silhouette runs alongside the picturesque cobblestone road that outlines the site. This design creates an elegant impression of length and fluidity, and embodies the project’s inventive style. For the building’s base, we used rough-faced brick that mimics the look and feel of local stone constructions without the added cost and logistical challenges. In varied shades of grey, the slate facade of the building’s upper levels complements the brick below, while its zig-zagging pattern also adds a sophisticated modern feel.
This development offers 28 high-end residential units, and is an excellent option for empty-nesters or young professionals looking to downsize without compromising on location. Our stacked design takes advantage of the site’s existing grading to provide distinct programs with unique entrances. Amenities within its two residential levels include multiple lounges, a co-working space, a café, a fitness center, and parking. At ground level, 11,000 square feet of retail space offer residents and neighbors convenient shopping opportunities. The development also features two accessible roof terrace spaces perfect for parties, intimate gatherings, and everything in between.
Picturesque like its location, and designed with the user in mind at every step, this development perfectly combines the benefits of apartment living and the best that two of Philadelphia’s beloved historic neighborhoods have to offer.
