This transformative renovation project turns an old medical center into a stunning mixed-use complex, complete with 25 residential units, ground-floor retail space, and easy access to great dining and recreation around the Roxborough neighborhood.
At the core of our design is the original brick structure, made up of a single-story front volume and a two-story back volume. Our U-shaped addition makes for an even three stories all
around, but leaves open a central courtyard space where balconies overlook a second-floor roof garden. Street-facing apartments also get a taste of the outdoors with floor-length windows that open onto Juliette balconies, and a shared roof deck provides more opportunities for fresh air
and views of the neighborhood.
With our unique staining process, we transform the original brick into an elegant grey facade that retains all the texture and nuance of the material. To complement this base, the new upper segments feature a unique facade of naturally varied lava stones. Bronze accents, sculpted canopies, and wood paneling add richness, more texture, and a slightly rustic warmth.
Dedicated to meeting our client’s needs at every turn, we designed this development to harmonize with its context, and turn an old landmark into an exciting new destination that honors its historic roots. Our renovation is set to inspire movement and turn this previously-unused site into a neighborhood hub.
