Jasmine Zhang, Architectural Designer
Jasmine Zhang is a talented student at Drexel University’s hands-on Bachelor of Architecture 2+4 Program and an invaluable part of the Morrissey Design team. Inspired by her multicultural past and entrepreneurial spirit, she sees architecture as an embodiment of the social nature of people, and uses her collaborative drive to help support clients and organize the operations of the firm.
As a first-generation college-bound student, Jasmine discovered her passion for architecture while touring gothic and historic college campuses. But she credits her social design approach to experiences growing up in Northeast Philadelphia, in a large household, as the daughter of Chinese immigrants. “This is when I realized how architecture can shape and improve the social experiences of people and their definition of home,” she says.
Jasmine graduated summa cum laude from high school as a WesGold Fellow, part of a professional development, finance, real estate, and entrepreneurship program for talented students. At Drexel, she has continued to excel both in and outside of class. Jasmine is fluent in Mandarin and Fuzhounese, but has also achieved proficiency with Korean as dance instructor for Drexel’s K-Pop troupe — where she covers complex choreographies with her team.
Jasmine brings this curious, fun, and collaborative attitude to work every day, and has become a critical resource for the office. Working closely with the firm’s partners, she coordinates meetings and helps manage material selections and project delivery for M Design, and works on coordination, documentation, detailing, and feasibility studies for M Architects. She is fascinated by the variety of work which the firm offers, as well as her growing role, which allows her to play a part in creating environments that meet the social and creative needs of people.
